We’ve noticed an increase in trucks being placed out of service during roadside inspections, and many of these issues—such as damaged airlines—are completely preventable. The key to avoiding these situations is taking the time to perform a thorough pre- and post-trip inspection. A complete inspection should take no less than 10–15 minutes, and that small investment of time can save hours of frustration and costly downtime later.
Proper inspections not only reduce incidents but also build driver accountability and strengthen a culture of safety within our company. They help protect you as the driver, safeguard the company’s equipment, and ensure the public’s safety on the road. By arriving 15–20 minutes before your scheduled departure, you’ll have the time you need to complete a quality pre-trip inspection. Remember—those few extra minutes can make the difference between a smooth trip and an avoidable roadblock.
