Don’t Let the Heat Make You Rush

With temperatures expected to reach around 100 degrees over the next couple of days, please take care of yourself and your equipment.

Make sure you bring enough water, but don’t forget to eat as well. You may not feel as hungry when it’s hot, but your body still needs food and electrolytes, especially if you are sweating throughout the day.

Hot weather is also hard on tires. Check your tire pressure and condition during your pre-trip, and continue checking your tires throughout the day. Underinflated, damaged, or worn tires are more likely to fail, especially during long trips in summer heat.

Most importantly, don’t rush through your job just because you want to get back into the air conditioning. Take the time to properly secure your load and check your equipment. A few extra minutes in the heat is better than dealing with a shifted or unsecured load later.

Stay hydrated, take your time, and stay safe.
