All drivers, new and old, need to drive to their own ability. Just because Dana can get out of a hole with no chains doesn’t mean you can. Just because Larry can make it to the mill by 4:00 doesn’t mean you can. We have some very talented drivers. But not one of them can drive two at a time so each of you must make your own decisions. And use your own ability to get your load to market.
That doesn’t mean, don’t ask for advice. I urge you to ask the experienced drivers for help. But keep in mind they do not know your driving skill. So, take their advice and use your judgement knowing your skill level.
While saying this I urge our good drivers to help when you can. I remember my dad telling me. “It’s a Hell of a lot easier to chain up in a good flat level spot than spun out half way up a hill and trying it”.
And let me reiterate something Chelsey blogged earlier. We recommend spreading you chains out here in the yard on a nice day. See if any links are broken. Make sure they fit. Before you’re in a nasty storm and really need them. You never know if someone took yours and gave you theirs that were broken.
Enjoy the winter.
