We are getting ready to start some of our longer hauls up north, so I want to remind everyone to make sure you are doing thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
When we’re hauling locally, a problem is inconvenient. When you’re 200 miles from home, that same problem can ruin an entire day.
Pay especially close attention to your tires, brakes, and scales. Check the truck and your trailers, including any decked trailers you’re taking with you.
We don’t want to lose a tire going down the road because something was missed during an inspection. We don’t want someone to drive 200 miles only to discover a flat tire on a decked trailer. And we definitely don’t want you getting up north and finding out your scales don’t work when you need them.
Take the extra few minutes before you leave and make sure everything is ready for the trip. When you get back, do a good post-trip so problems can be fixed before that equipment is needed again.
The farther we’re traveling, the more important these inspections become. A few extra minutes in the yard can save you hours on the side of the road.
