Stay Alert: Your Awareness Keeps Everyone Safe

By October 24, 2025Blog Posts

Every day, we work around heavy equipment, large vehicles, and busy yards — places where one moment of inattention can make the difference between a smooth shift and a serious incident. Whether you’re behind the wheel, walking through the shop, or fueling up, being alert to your surroundings isn’t just a rule — it’s part of how we take care of each other.

Distractions are everywhere. Phones buzz, radios chatter, and it’s easy to get lost in the routine of the job. But trucks move fast, tools fall, and blind spots can hide more than you think. A quick scan of your area before backing up, a glance over your shoulder before stepping out, or simply pausing to look both ways in the yard can prevent accidents before they start.

Remember:

  • Always make eye contact with drivers and operators before walking near equipment.
  • Keep your head on a swivel — if something feels off, stop and reassess.
  • Never assume someone else sees you or knows what you’re about to do.
  • If a coworker seems distracted or rushed, speak up. We watch out for each other.

At the end of the day, safety isn’t just about procedures — it’s about awareness, teamwork, and pride in doing things right. The more alert we are, the safer our shop, fleet, and families stay.

Let’s make it a habit to stay sharp, stay aware, and stay safe — every shift, every job, every day.
