Time is flying by.

In about a week, December 31st to be exact, it will be the ten-year anniversary of me buying Floyd Martin out.

During that10 years, I hope you have noticed a couple of things.

One, there has been minimal changes in the operations of the companies.  Although there was 40 or so years difference in age, Floyd and I thought a lot alike and for his last 20 or so years, he just let me run it and seek his tutorship when needed.

Two, I have worked hard on making this place a business to be proud to work for. Nicer looking trucks. We fixed up the yard. Tidied up the office.  Nothing big, but stuff that I think makes a difference. I think this was a very good company when I bought it and I’m trying to make it great.

I think Ryan replacing me as log truck coordinator (Truck Boss) has been a very good thing. I get a lot of good reports. I think replacing Stew and bringing George back was a good move. Welcome back George. George has fixed some relationships we had lost. And I wish Joe Fisher well in his retirement, while I believe Phil is doing a fantastic job running the maintenance dept.

I want every driver under the Martin Companies banner to be proud of the equipment they are driving and brag on the CB about the shop and the office staff. I want drivers from other outfits to wish they could be like you.

I want to thank every employee for helping make the companies run smooth and safely. It takes all of you to make this work. I have enjoyed being your leader and want to continue to make you all proud for years to come.

I would like to thank all of you who have asked with concern how my wife Sheri is doing. She is doing very well. She is home healing. But missing her hair they shaved off.

Thank you and Merry Christmas to you and your family.
