Just when we get close to meeting the numbers to qualify for Trusted Carrier Plates, someone will get an Out Of Service violation that kicks us backwards.
The most common issue is “brakes out of adjustment”. Since the shop has stepped up it’s brake check program, we are having less of these issues. However, one out of service violation will follow the company for 2 years, and a driver for 2.5 yrs.
It is still the driver’s responsibility to ensure ALL brakes are properly adjusted. For those that are not confident in how to do this, the shop has built a training/ practice axle for you.
Talk with the mechanics about how your automatic slack adjusters are supposed to work, and what you can do to make sure they will!
