At the end of each month I pull a report on hours of service violations. Month after month I see the same names appear on the list. Please remember to watch your Drive, Shift and Cycle limits. Failure to do so will result in consequences up to or including termination of employment. As a refresher our company policy is below. If you have questions please come talk me, I’ll be happy to discuss them with you.
HOS Policy
- Logbooks must match total hours on the drivers time sheet which are used to calculate payroll.
- No driver will knowingly work or drive over the maximum hours allowed by law (daily or seven (7) day).
- It is the drivers responsibility to inform dispatch of a lack of hours.
- Any violation will result in disciplinary action for the driver.
- 1st violation – Verbal Warning
- 2nd violation – Written Warning
- 3rd violation – One (1) week suspension without pay.
- 4th violation – Termination of Employment
The only exception to this is if a violation is out of the drivers control (i.e., truck broke down on last trip and there was no safe place to stop), no violation will be given, but the driver must indicate the reason on both the log and time sheets as to what happened.
